This is getting ridiculous... this is the second time this age where a country has been screwed over because their leaders decide to share accounts. I wonder how many leaders give their password away? People cheating like this ruin the game for people who actually invest a ton of time only to come up short because they aren't willing to cheat so the main army can move 24/7.
Now, I realize that it's nearly impossible to prevent... but we have some smart people here, so there should be able to find a way to at least reduce the problem. The best I could come up with is having the IP used for logging in by emperors checked regularly, and if there are any irregularities make sure there is a good explanation for it. If the IPs can be shown to be proxies or to come from outside the state/country they normally login from then they should be banned.

draco and I agree here. if someone doesn't normally use a proxy, a sudden shift to a proxy had best have a good explanation in advance. the only problem is work/home logins which would show multiple ips.

In belgium ( probably in other countries too ) Your connection has a diffrent IP every time you connect. Therefore adding an IP restriction to an account would be a very bad idea.
i'm sure there is another way though.

Is there a way to design a program that could verify that the person is actually on their computer?
It could just be used for emperors and could be put on any computer the emperor would use

What a silly thread.
Do you think the people in ban-appeals are complaining for no reason that their acounts were deleted? For every person complaining about an invalid deletion, there's a multitude that doesn't complain because they were validly deleted. This is already being done.
I'm pretty sure Vincent is doing what he can in his limited time. There's a reason Sumera DID get deleted.

I did not deny to vincent someone had my pass due to family circumstances, though I wanted to talk to vincent due to the fact Ballotonia/Miirshak should have been punished aswell, since they logged into my account and hijacked everything and main army etc. Vincent did not have any valid IP-logs to ban them, but he did Disband the hijacked main army, so i rest my case.

wtf egregius?? What a silly post~
The only case where this has been brought forward is when the people who gave the password away admitted to it
And I think *SOMEONE* would notice if an emperor was mysteriously deleted.

Emphasis added by me. It's already a rule, and people are already being banned as far as I can tell (like I said: see ban appeals forum). This is just the first high-profile case.

Account sharing is not a big problem imho. Much worse is the problem of spies.
Spies are so common that as a country leader you are practicly forced to make them yourself as well - or you will just be too disadvantaged compared to your competitors. Luckily there always seem to be 10+ people who can tell you exactly where the enemy armies are - which only goes to show how far spread spying is.
This age Denmark always knew exactly what we did about 10 seconds after we did it. The fastest way of contacting Danish HQ is just sending a mass-message to everybody in Australia... I'm not flaming them here, all other countries are just as bad... But it's a problem.
It would be fun if you could actually move your army without the enemy knowing, like it's supposed to be.

uuhm what's exactly the point in this topic? there's no way to prevent this from happening as you can only found out someone cheated after he actually did it. as for the leaders doing bad things, if you're a leader in your country you have a certain responsebility and so you should act towards that, if you're unable to do so, you shouldnt have become a leader in the first place.
you have a problem with spies? well ye sure they are annoying, but it's very realistic, afterall it happens in reallife too. the problem is more that it's easy in this game to get acces to information, in wich Vincent has already done a good job in restricting the info you see on the Friends page.

I'm not flaming them here, all other countries are just as bad... But it's a problem. I admit we had and still have some great spies in Australia, just as the Australian leaders have in Denmark (and I have proof for that). It's simple: people contact me and ask if I need any information, and who am I to say no? Get them to IRC and let them tell what they want to tell. If they are willing to betray their country it's up to them. You can ofcourse ask yourself about ethics and moral here, but hey, we are at war, and in war and love everything is permitted...
