I'd like to make something FAQ-like, but then for suggestions made over and over again and what the general opinion is about them (read: why Vincent will not implement this übercool feature you want to suggest ).
I would like to ask the mods to sticky this thread. I will try to keep this post updated, but I also grant permission to the mods to update this post themselves when they want to add/change something.
I will put links to suggestions which I think were not totally closed.
Please don't respond to this thread with your own suggestions. Also, don't discuss the suggestions made in this topic. Do that in it's appropriate thread.
It is OK however to say which suggestions should be added to the list, but only when it's been suggested often and there's a general opinion formed by it (a final decision by Vincent is general enough ).
Selling units instead of dismissing them
Well, since you never owned them in the first place (you hire them), it's illogical to be able to sell them.
[Open] Rebuying units which were dismissed by a player
No real conclusion was reached with this suggestion.
Retalliating when a lower ranked officer has attacked you
The solution is simple: don't get attacked by a lower ranked officer. When most of your men are injured, just move away from the border. If you don't have a safe place to go, your country has done something wrong or your country is dying anyway.
If you want to retalliate really badly, there's always the option of waiting until the officer in question becomes the same rank as you are .
[Semi-open] A messaging system / board for negotiations between different countries
No real conclusion was reached for this suggestion, though it is probably not needed. To start negotiations, it usually suffices to contact the highest ranking officer of the given country. With him (or her) you can decide who to talk to and where to talk. Most countries use IRC or MSN for internal communications, and those can be used for external communications as well.
Do something about the "being the first to have a Lt Colonel" advantage
Vincent is inclined to implement a cease fire period in the start of the age, as said on page 6 of the What would you do thread (though I may be a bit premature on this). If this won't get implemented there are a few options left if you're the county without the Lt Colonel:
- negotiate a treaty with the country who does have the Lt Colonel first;
- all stay in the capital city as much as possible to make it very hard for the attacking country to deal the final blow; this suggestion will not safe you, but it does offer you some time to negotiate with other countries and it slows down the offending country as much as possible.
[Semi-open] Buy / bribing the units you have captured off another player
This will make a capture virtually equal to a kill for the losing player, as it is almost always better to bribe the enemy unit. But kills should be rare, and captures are by no means rare.
However, recently there was made an add-on to this suggestion which has still no final verdict.
Killing a unit you have captured off another player
Surprisingly, this hasn't been suggested this age, though it has been a couple of times last age.
This will not be implemented, since it would make a capture virtually equal to a kill.
Vacation mode
It is not possible for this game to put yourself in vacation mode to avoid being attacked in PvP combat. The best solution is to go to a safe place (probably your capital) and hope it doesn't get attacked. You'll go into automatic vacation mode after 7 days of inactivity
[Semi-open]Suggestion X to balance the countries more
Next age there might be random country assignments, together with invites, so you can invite your friends. This will probably solve the problem of overfull countries by "randomly" assigning people to smaller countries.
This feature isn't sure yet, and alternatives are being suggested in another thread.
Sending aid to other (lower ranked) officers
This has been deemed too abusable.
Add more message options
such as: message to army; message online only; message everyone in a city
